The East Coast beaches of Daytona, Cocoa and New Smyrna Beach are located south of St. Augustine on the Space Coast and are closest to the Orlando area, clocking in at a little over an hour’s drive. Daytona’s reputation precedes it as a party destination, Cocoa is known for surfing, its light gray-brown sand and, of course, as the hometown of Major Anthony Nelson in I Dream of Jeanie. It’s also one of the most popular family vacation beaches in Florida.

Then there is New Smyrna Beach, which is very popular with Central Floridians. It’s peaceful, beautiful and recognizable for its striking white quartz sand. Shop along Flagler Avenue for your beach souvenirs and grab a burger or fish sandwich and a beverage at one of many great dining spots right on the beach.

Vistana Community Member "Cocoa beach" — 03/15/2018 "Cocoa beach" 03/15/2018 My wife not only wanted to visit the place where I Dream of Jeannie was filmed but wanted to spend time in the water. Water were beautiful and warm unlike California coast water. A lot of great eateries and just make sure to bring some chairs and umbrella for the beach.
