Indian Canyons is an adventurous experience for the mind, body and spirit. Once inhabited by the Agua Caliente Cahuilla (Kaw-we-ah) Indians, the Palm, Andreas, Murray, Tahquitz and Chino Canyons were a complex, thriving community. Today you can explore the remains—including rock art, irrigation ditches, food preparation areas, foundations and more—along the Palm, Andreas and Murray Canyons.
Each canyon is varied in terrain, but equally stunning in its own unique natural beauty and indigenous wildlife. Come to enjoy picnics and meditation by a tranquil stream, exploration along a scenic foot trail, or equestrian trails with a backdrop of bighorn sheep and towering palm trees. There is an abundance of mystery and awe awaiting your discovery.

Indian Canyons is a fun place to hike in a natural oasis area. The Canyon is on the west edge of Palm Springs next to the mountains and is filled with Palm Trees. It is usually much cooler than the surrounding desert landscape. I love this place because it is natural and a great place to escape to. The resort at Palm Desert is a lovely place with nice swimming pools and a beautiful golf course. But sometimes it is nice to escape the manicured, irrigated areas and get back to nature.

We were lucky to be able to hike Indian Canyons during a desert super bloom. We used a coupon for a discount on admissions which made it even more fun. The hike is better in the morning before it heats up. The cactus was in full bloom and was just beautiful. We were not alone but it was not too crowded. We really enjoyed this hike.
