Discover Lana‘i, Maui’s secluded neighboring island. From Maui, this great sailing excursion takes you across the Kealaikahiki Channel to the island. Here you can snorkel at one of the best diving locations in the world—Hulopoe Marine Preserve.

A full-day excursion to this private island features sailing, snorkeling, sunbathing, beach volleyball, and the increasingly popular SNUBA. Most tour operators also offer a guided tour of Lana‘i's historic plantation town, narrated by island born and raised Hawaiian cultural guides.

After a guided snorkel reef tour and a day on Hulopoe Beach, enjoy fresh water showers and mouth-watering BBQ.

I would like to recommend taking the morning ferry from Lahaina to Lanai. The ferry trip is about 50 minutes and drops you off at Manele Bay. From dock you have several snorkeling options. One is a short 10 minute walk to Hulopoe Bay. The beach is beautiful, uncrowded and the snorkeling in the marine sanctuary is second to none. There are picnic tables and clean modern restrooms. The second snorkeling spot is in Manele Bay, just on the other side of the breakwater. Tricky entry, but worth it.
