I have stayed at both the Arizona Vistana properties, and enjoyed both tremendously. Both times, a visit to the Desert Botanical Garden has been a highlight of my trip. I have some orthopedic issues, but have been able to navigate through this beautiful and fascinating garden, so different than the landscape of my home in upstate NY, without difficulty. This is a place I plan to continue to enjoy any time I return to the area.

This is one of the most beautiful places in the country. There are different displays, depending on the season. It is most beautiful when the cactus are blooming! Also, when an artist covers the garden with his or her art.

Many world class exhibits are staged here in addition to the Botanical Gardens themselves. Very nice restaurant on site

As my husband and I strolled through the gardens with our then three and one year old daughters, we were captivated by all the luminaries bringing the Desert vegetation to life! We took time to listen to various musical performances, sip hot cocoa, and star gaze. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the Christmas season out west.

I took my four kids, all under age 6, to the Desert Botanical Garden at sunset when the weather was cooler. It was amazing. They absolutely loved it and they still talk about Jun Kaneko Tanuki ceramic sculptures. You give them a hug and because the sun is so hot it is like a warm embrace. They have concerts in the evening and the whole place is stunning. My kids loved walking around and seeing the plants, especially the large cactus. Definitely recommend going to this place.

Go in December on Friday or Saturday night for the luminarias. Buy tickets in advance as they sell out. The lights are magical. Great music on each of the different trails. Good libations and food. We snacked along the way and skipped the large buffet meal. Decent cheese plate at the blues band and green pork chili at the three strings concert. You will want a jacket and gloves as it is chilly at night.

The Desert Botanical Gardens is a lovely oasis in the desert. It is so beautiful and what a great place to learn about all the different desert plants. We also ate at the little cafe which was very good. Take the whole family, your children will enjoy it too!

This is more than just a collection of cacti, although it has amazing examples, it is also a place that yearly exhibits great art. There is also a great butterfly exhibit.

A fantastic place to learn about the many varieties of cacti, flowers and other plants that one might not find anywhere else. The walking path is quite level and it winds around natural displays in a tranquil environment. If there in the warmer months, an umbrella is recommended for shade, and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, wherever you are in this desert setting!
