Born from a family business in the 1920s, Floyd Shields became a pioneer in the date business creating unique varieties of dates and establishing all-natural harvesting practices. To this day, no chemical fertilizers or pesticides are used.
In 2011, the Shields were contacted by a couple looking to relocate statues from a biblical garden they had owned in Canada. They saw this as a great opportunity and the statues inspired The Garden. Opened to the public in 2013, you can walk along a picturesque path that winds through the 17-acre date farm featuring 14 scenes and 23 statues documenting Christ’s life. An audio narrative is available to enjoy as you explore at your leisure.
You may also want to stop by the restaurant for breakfast or lunch where you can enjoy a delicious meal featuring many unique and inspired uses of…you guessed it…dates.
