Vistana Community Member "Road to Hana" — 02/17/2018 "Road to Hana" 02/17/2018 I would strongly recommend that anyone wanting to go to Hana and beyond do a Road to Hana tour rather than driving it themselves. Being able to see the sights without fear of missing a curve in the road is a great benefit. Also, seeing the back side of Haleakala is like being in an undeveloped part of Hawaii and completely different than the tourist spots.

First of all, plan for a long day. It was 12 hours plus from the time we were picked up at our resort to the time we were dropped off. It was indeed worth every minute to experience almost everything that traditional Maui has to offer. The natural beauty along the way is stunning, and each stop that is made along the way is for a specific purpose. Our guide, Deborah, is a native Hawaiian, with great knowledge

By taking a tour, I was able to enjoy the scenery and have a tour guide who can point out the highlights. The tour guides also knows the best stops along the way, what to see .
