After spending every spring break in Orlando for 23 years, our sons wanted a new adventure. I researched Hawai’i and talked with a vacation counselor who advised that Kaua’i would be just the environment for an active family vacation. I began planning and talking with a concierge at the Princeville Resort who emailed me great suggestions for activities for my energetic and athletic young men. Our spring breaks had always included friends and extended family, but this vacation was too far, and more than I wanted to spend on guests. The four of us had not been on a vacation alone in so long, I couldn't remember. We were not disappointed! The resort was beautiful and the surroundings surreal. There was bike riding down the canyon, hiking the Nā pali Coast, taking a flight to Honolulu and spending the day at Pearl Harbor, attending a beautiful Luau at a local family garden and farm and relaxing at the magnificent resort with a view from the cliff overlooking the ocean. We felt reconnected as a family in a way we hadn't had the time or the privacy to connect in years. The staff at the resort was wonderful, from check-in to dining to pool to any request we made. This was truly a trip of a lifetime and we will have a cherished family memory forever.
One of my favorite activities on vacation was taking my children to a luau
