We caught up with some of the staff of The Westin Lagunamar Ocean Resort to ask them about some of their favorite places and things to do in Cancún.
What are your favorite local activities you would recommend for Guests to experience?
“Visit Xel-ha and Xcaret, local ecoparks that show off the area’s lush natural surroundings. Also visit nearby archaeological sites like Tulum, Chichén Itzá, and Coba — all well-preserved Mayan ruins.”
— Carlos Gonzalez, General Manager
Favorite resort restaurant and meal you’d recommend, and why?
“Viento poolside restaurant. The Ceviche Pacífico is the best. A fresh and tasty local favorite enjoyed al fresco to enjoy the warm sun and ocean breezes.”
— Luis Carlos, Food and Beverage Director
Tell us about a “best kept secret” of the resort or local area that Guests might not know about?
“The on-site ancient Mayan ruin named “Templo del Alacrán,” or “Scorpion’s Temple” after the scorpion sculpture found on its walls. It’s free to explore, and you might even spot some of the native iguanas who call it home.”
— Mariana Herrera, Executive Assistant to General Manager
