The Perfect Scottsdale Weekend

Stylish and sophisticated, modern and historic, Scottsdale, Arizona has become an ideal locale for an inspiring weekend getaway.

It’s not hard to create the perfect weekend in Scottsdale. In fact, with so much to do, from world-class dining and shopping to natural and historic sights, plus so many great resort amenities to enjoy, there might be such a thing as too much to do in just one weekend. But it’s always fun to try.

Settle In

Start the perfect Scottsdale weekend off with “An Evening of Scotches,” a special tasting event held Friday evenings, hosted by The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa. Enjoy three featured selections of Scotch while learning about the differences between the labels, unique aspects of the different whisky regions of Scotland, and various ways to drink Scotch. Then enjoy a memorable dining experience at deseo, showcasing Nuevo Latino cuisine, or Nellie Cashman’s Monday Club Café for a true taste of Arizona.

Take a Hike

No visit to Scottsdale is truly complete without taking in some of the amazing nature around you. Hike Camelback Mountain at sunrise, then visit Scottsdale’s Old Town Farmers’ Market for a well-earned breakfast, and to grab fresh local produce to prepare back in your villa. Pinnacle Peak and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve trail are also great scenic hikes nearby.

Tour the Home of a Master

Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter home, is a must-see when in Scottsdale. This U.S. National Historic Landmark, exemplifying the architect’s strong connection with the desert, is nestled on the mesa just below McDowell Peak, and is regarded as one of Wright’s most well-known structures. Home to the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture, Taliesin West offers a number of tour options (reservations recommended).

Shop and Dine

Scottsdale is known for its easygoing yet sophisticated vibe. And for a stylish afternoon-into-evening, Old Town Scottsdale and the nearby 5th Avenue Arts District are no-brainers, offering some of the area’s best dining, charming shops, people-watching and more. The perfect place to explore Scottsdale at your own pace.

Back to the Resort

While you’re in Scottsdale, your vacation villa is your home base, perfect for relaxing, recharging and, of course, taking advantage of the great activities and amenities there. Whether staying at The Westin Kierland Villas or Sheraton Desert Oasis, world-class golf — both on-site and on a number of courses nearby — refreshing swimming pools, invigorating fitness centers and rejuvenating spa services are just the beginning.
